A dog exploring Fredericton

The dog-friendly guide to

Fredericton

Botanic Garden trails, riverfront walks, a welcoming patio and two practical overnights with Tilly.

Field notes September 2026

Our dog-friendly Fredericton guide, from the Botanic Garden and Odell Park trails to a downtown patio, riverfront walks and the Comfort Inn.

Fredericton was an overnight stop on both our 2025 and 2026 drives east, with the Comfort Inn chosen for its position near Odell Park and the Fredericton Botanic Garden.

Fire-risk closures kept us out of the park and gardens in 2025, so we explored downtown and the Saint John River riverfront instead. On our 2026 return, both were open and we finally enjoyed a lovely hike from the garden paths into Odell Park’s woodland trails.

Garden and park hikeThe Fredericton Botanic Garden connects directly to the wooded trails of Odell Park.
Riverfront eveningThe Saint John River riverfront made an easy, scenic evening walk on our 2025 visit.
Welcoming patioRustiCo / King West Brewing welcomed Tilly with a bowl of ice water.
Mind the hillWalking from Prospect Street into downtown is long and steep; we would drive next time.
