Our story

One human. Four paws. A very big country.

We're Shaun and Tilly, and we have been travelling across Canada together each summer since 2024.

On the road together since 2024

Paws & Provinces began with a simple idea: document some of the experiences we have while travelling across the country, and share the places that make it easier to bring your dog along.

Canada is full of remarkable roads, cities, trails and small surprises. Experiencing them with Tilly changes how I travel. We stop more often, spend more time outside and notice places we might otherwise have passed by.

These guides are our field notes from the road. They are a record of where we have been, what we found and the practical details we would want to know before arriving with a dog.

Meet the travellers

The team behind the field notes.

01 Shaun stopping beside a tortoise crossing sign while travelling

Shaun

Driver, writer & treat carrier

I plan the routes, document our stops and turn the useful things we learn along the way into these guides.

02 Tilly sitting outside as snow falls around her

Tilly

Explorer, companion & quality control

Tilly sets the pace, finds the best places to stop and reminds me that the journey matters as much as the destination.

What guides us

Notes from the road, not from a search result.

01

We go there

Our notes come from places we have experienced together, not generic lists assembled from a distance.

02

We notice the details

Dog policies, trail conditions and patio arrangements can determine whether a stop works. We record what matters.

03

We keep exploring

Every summer adds another stretch of road and another chapter to the story.
