Trip chapter 17
Thunder Bay to Sault Ste. Marie
The final big northern Ontario day of the sprint home, ending with a repeat Sleep Inn stay and a dog-friendly festival across the street.

The next day we headed back to Sault Ste. Marie, continuing the three-day sprint home and mostly retracing the northern Ontario route we had driven west earlier in the trip.
Back at the Sleep Inn
We stayed again at the Sleep Inn in Sault Ste. Marie. By this point of the trip, a familiar hotel mattered: easy check-in, a known room setup and a place where we already knew Tilly would be accepted.

Sleep Inn Sault Ste. Marie
A comfortable dog-friendly hotel with welcoming staff, though our upstairs room location was awkward for Tilly.

There was another festival in the park across the street from the hotel. Like the earlier event we found on the way west, this one was dog friendly, so we could wander through with Tilly and stretch our legs before settling in for the night.
