Trip chapter 05
Truro to Digby
A random tidal-centre find, a Wolfville waterfront lunch, a wildfire detour and a harbour-view suite in Digby with famous scallops.

We continued on our trip the next day, heading towards Digby. Before the drive even got going properly, we randomly came across a Fundy Tidal Interpretive Centre in Maitland.
A chance find in Maitland
The centre itself was not dog friendly, but the trail to the viewing area was. It looks out over the Shubenacadie River, where the tidal bores form, with old railway cars from the Dominion Atlantic Railway rusting quietly beside the water.

Lunch in Wolfville
We stopped for lunch at Wolfville, a cute little town with a nice waterfront park. We did not end up eating at a restaurant there because the patios were quite small and quite busy, and parking was a bit of a nightmare when we arrived. But the waterfront park itself made a lovely lunch spot.

Keeping on to Digby
We planned to make one more stop on the way to Digby, but because of a wildfire nearby we decided to keep pushing through to Digby instead.
Dockside Suites in Digby
We stayed at the Fundy Restaurant + Dockside Suites, and our little room was amazing. We had a balcony shared with our next-door neighbours, but I never saw them. Tilly loved to sit there and watch the boats coming in and out of the harbour. The pet fee was $25 and we had to sign an agreement explaining the rules.

Scallops on the patio
We also ate at the attached restaurant out on the patio, where Tilly was welcome. We tried some famous Digby scallops and, of course, a cold Alexander Keith's for dad, since we are in Nova Scotia.

Around the Digby waterfront
Between meals we wandered around the Digby waterfront, past the lighthouse and the fishing boats, and enjoyed the harbour views at dusk from the boardwalk.
