Trip chapter 13
Red Deer to Edmonton
A short drive north into Edmonton, with a hot ravine walk, a comfortable Airbnb, skyline views, a dog-friendly night market and a patio pint.

After the long Kelowna-to-Red-Deer haul, the drive into Edmonton felt manageable. We arrived a little early for check-in, so we used the extra time for a dog walk instead of sitting around in the car.
A hot ravine walk before check-in
We parked near 9625 95a Street NW and walked into Mill Creek Ravine Park. It was a hot day, so we kept it short, but the wooded ravine was a nice place for Tilly to stretch her legs before we could get into the Airbnb.

The Airbnb was one of the lovelier stays of this part of the trip. It had free parking, gave us an easy base in Edmonton and put us a short walk from Strathearn Park.

Strathearn Park became the easy evening walk. The views over the river valley toward downtown were excellent, especially around rush hour when the skyline and low sun made the whole city feel bigger than expected.

During the stay we went to 124 Grand Market at 108 Avenue and 124 Street. Dogs were permitted when we visited, and a couple of vendors were selling dog treats. I got Tilly a broth popsicle, which was a strong choice for a warm evening.
From the market we walked over to Manchester Square, which looks like something out of the Netherlands, then sat outside Arcadia Brewing Co with Tilly and enjoyed a pint.
