A dog exploring Grand Falls

The dog-friendly guide to

Grand Falls

A gorge-and-dam lunch stop on the drive east.

Field notes August 2026

Our practical notes for the Grand Falls visitor centre, a scenic packed-lunch break on the drive from Québec to Fredericton.

Grand Falls sits on the Saint John River along the drive from Rivière-du-Loup to Fredericton, and its visitor centre looks out over an impressive gorge and dam.

There was nothing really dog friendly there on our visit, but the views made it a worthwhile spot to eat a packed lunch and stretch the legs before continuing east.

Gorge viewsThe rocky gorge and dam make an impressive backdrop for a roadside lunch.
Packed-lunch stopThe visitor centre grounds worked well for a lunch and leg-stretch break.
Not dog focusedWe found nothing specifically dog friendly here on this visit.
