A dog exploring Red Deer

The dog-friendly guide to

Red Deer

A practical overnight, a supply stop and a surprisingly good off-leash park.

Field notes August 2026

A practical dog-friendly guide to the Red Deer motel, pet-supply stop and off-leash park we used between Kelowna and Edmonton.

Red Deer became a practical stop after a long travel day out of Kelowna, with Calgary Stampede pricing making Calgary accommodation unattractive.

The motel was basic but pet-friendly, supplies were close by and Oxbows Off Leash Dog Park gave Tilly a proper run before we continued toward Edmonton.

No pet feeMotel 6 Red Deer allowed up to two pets per room without an extra fee during our stay.
Supplies nearbyBone & Biscuit was across the road from the motel for food and other pet supplies.
Room to runOxbows Off Leash Dog Park had open space plus exercise and agility equipment.
